IONPURE EDI modules are used for the continuous desalination of reverse osmosis permeate. The modules consist of a membrane stack with special ion-selective exchange membranes to separate the desalination chambers from the concentrate stream.

The desalination chambers are filled with mixed bed ion exchange resin. Two special electrodes are used to generate the electric field.

Depending on the configuration and pretreatment, product conductivities of 0.055 µS/cm (=18.2 MΩ.cm) can be achieved. The power range starts at 30 liters/hour and ends at over 100 m³/hour.

  • MX module: specially designed for applications with small flow rates, e.g. for laboratory systems (MX module)
  • LX-HI module: specially designed for the pharmaceutical industry, sanitizable with hot water, from 200 l/h up to 7,600 l/h (LX module)
  • LX-X module: also for the pharmaceutical industry, but only chemically sanitizable, from 200 l/h up to 7,600 l/h (LX module)
  • LX-Z module: specially designed for the technical industry (e.g. boiler feed, printing plants, from 200 l/h to 7,600 l/h (LX module)
  • VNX module: our high-volume modules, specially developed for power plant applications, up to 18,000 l/h production capacity (maximum flow rate) (VNX module)
